 On Mar 27, 2008, at 13:40, the first baby of the IVF program at Van Hanh General Hospital, the fourth IVF Center of Ho Chi Minh city, was born healthily. This is a boy, weighing at birth 3,300 grs. Mrs. QTT, his mother, who has desired to have a baby for 1 year, was indicated to perform IVF due to polycystic ovaries and weak sperm.
The couple was then registered to perform IVF at the Center of IVF Van Hanh Unit in July 2007. She had egg aspirated on July 17, 2007 and transferred into uterus on July 19, 2007.
The Result of pregnancy test was positive 2 weeks later. The Result of pregnancy ultrasonography 3 weeks later showed a healthy living embryo in uterus. Fetus was monitored and developed normally. Mrs. QTT had been cesarean section operated on Mar 27, 2008 at Van Hanh Hospital, for 38 weeks of pregnancy.
This event marks the first success of IVF program at Van Hanh Hospital. IVF Van Hanh Unit is the fourth IVF center of Ho Chi Minh city and also the first private general hospital in our country which developed IVF successfully. This is also the evidence to prove the efficiency of healthcare socialization policy in developing high-class health care services for individuals with demand.
At present, there are more than 150 other pregnant cases from the IVF program at IVF Van Hanh Unit the antenatal of which is monitored. The clinical pregnant rate here is up to nearly 40%. This is a relatively high success rate in comparison with the domestic and international reports.
